To whom it may concern: I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information: 1. TFL Rapid Charge Point Locations and the type of electric vehicle charger: a. What is it’s rated power delivery?; b. Which of these are on-street chargepoints accessible 24/7, not in car parks nor service stations? c. Which CPOs are operating these chargepoints? d. What is the cost charged at each chargepoint per kWh? 2. Record of all public electric vehicle charging events in 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021 specifying for each event to which charging point it refers to (charging point ID field): a. Including the recorded times the charging event begins and ends using the public charge points; 3. Charging Speeds for each public charging event; 4. The recorded Kwh used for each public charging event; Please, provide the information in the form of a .xls or .csv format where possible and include the coordinates (Lat, Long, Easting, Northing) of the charging points. If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request. If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined I would be grateful for any further advice and assistance. The data you have requested is in the format of a large csv file. As such I am unable to send it via email. I have set up a ‘Sharefile’ site that we use at TfL to share large documents externally and I will send you the link shortly. If you have any issues accessing it, please let me know.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. Your questions and our replies are as follows:

1.    TFL Rapid Charge Point Locations and the type of electric vehicle charger:

  1. What is its rated power delivery?
Our rapid chargers are rated to 50 Kilowatts.
 
  1. Which of these are on-street chargepoints accessible 24/7, not in car parks nor service stations?

  1. Which CPOs are operating these charge points?
Our charge points are operated by ESB and bp Pulse, tendered through our framework. We have also invested in some Osprey and Shell sites. These include:

  1. What is the cost charged at each charge point per kWh?
The price varies and can be found for each charge point on Zap Map.
In general, it is between 20 – 30p per kilowatt.

2.    Record of all public electric vehicle charging events in 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021 specifying for each event to which charging point it refers to (charging point ID field):
a.    Including the recorded times the charging event begins and ends using the public charge points;

The information requested is included in link provided. There are circa 950,000 rows and you may notice there are some gaps in the data pre 2020.
In particular we are missing the following weeks of bp data:
W/C 9 April 2018 – 15 April 2018
W/C 7 May 2018 – 13 May 2018
W/C 4 Jun 2018 – 10 June 2018
ESB however is the complete dataset from December 2017 up to March 2021.

3.    Charging Speeds for each public charging event;
       We do not hold or receive this information.

4.    The recorded Kwh used for each public charging event;

5.    Please, provide the information in the form of a .xls or .csv format where possible and include the coordinates (Lat, Long, Easting, Northing) of the charging points.
