Thank you for your email received by us on 08 May 2017 asking for information about Oyster and Contactless cards capping.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

Provide statistics on how many Oyster Cards and contactless cards are capped on each zone rate (both peak and off-peak). The figures from the present back to 2013 would be most useful – could you can provide average daily rates.

Unfortunately we do not hold this information as the detail you have requested is only available for eight weeks, so it is not possible to go back to 2013.

We are, however, able to supply the attached information which provides summary data on caps applied to Contactless Payment Cards (CPCs), which is captured as a matter of course.
