As of 27 April 2023, how many new Private Hire License applications are awaiting assessment and what is the average waiting time for a new Private Hire License application to undergo assessment.

Thank you for your request received on 27 April 2023 asking for information about private hire vehicle (PHV) licence applications.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

As of 27 April 2023, we had 759 PHV applications awaiting assessment. The average processing time for initial assessment for this financial year is currently seven days. We typically process around 440 a week on average. We aim to process all new applications within 10 days, and are well within that timeframe.
