Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3rd May 2022 asking for London Underground rolling stock lists.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Note that the information is not held in a single place and a number of different sources have been used to collate it.
Please see the attached “RS Info Sheets” document which contains the information for most of the stock. In addition, see the attached files “IMG_1522” and “IMG_1523” which contain the information for the 1967 TS and 1983 TS stock. For the 1986 stock colleagues at the London Transport Museum have provided the following extract from “London Underground rolling stock” by Brian Hardy, 12th ed (1990) p.30:
Each of the prototypes consisted of two two-car units … the three trains were formed and numbered thus
Formation DM – NDM + NDM – DM Train A 11 21 22 12 Train B 13 23 24 14 Train C 15 25 26 16
Furthermore, colleagues in our Corporate Archives have provided the following information which may be of interest (some of this may repeat some of the information provided above):
LT001484/012: 1959/1962, 1960, 1967, 1972 Mark I and Mark II Tube Stock, 1973 Tube Stock, A60/62, C 69 Surface Stock Photographs, dimensioned drawings and specification sheets for Underground rolling stock. Second copy does not contain information for 1972 or 1973 Tube Stock. 1959-1972
This contains car numbers as part of the introductory data for each of the listed vehicles above.
