Thank you for your email received by us on 22 April 2019 asking for information about journeys made on London Buses and London Underground using foreign contactless cards.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. You asked for:

the total number of trips completed on buses and tube using foreign contactless bankcards for the year 2018?

Also, what are the three most common countries where contactless is used? Thank you

Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested because our ticketing systems do not record this data in the required format as our existing processes do not enable us to determine which journeys are made by foreign contactless cards nor the countries in question.
