Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26 April 2018 asking for information about ‘average train speeds’ on our Tube, Overground, Tram and TfL Rail services.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. The figures have generally been calculated by taking an average run time from one end of the line to another, however different parts of the routes will have different line speeds, which varies due to restrictions etc. You can find more information via the link below provided by Network Rail which you don’t need an account to access..https://www.networkrail.co.uk/industry-commercial-partners/information-operating-companies/national-electronic-sectional-appendix/
