Process of starting the body cam recording
Request ID: FOI-0218-1920
Date published: 02 May 2019
You asked
In FOI-2365-1718, you have mentioned that 'They do not record consistently throughout their duty, but are only activated by the RCI when they feel that their safety, of that of their colleagues, is at risk.' I would like to get this point clarified. Does the body cam detect violent situations automatically and start recording by itself or does the inspector have to manually start the recording by pressing a button?
We answered

I can advise that body worn CCTV cameras need to be activated by the Revenue Control Inspector to begin recording.
