You asked

F/on from FOI-0078-2122 Thank you very much for replying to my question. I have three further questions which are essential to clarify your answers. I would be very grateful if you could kindly answer them too. Out of 14,975 cardholders of the email category, whose cards were stopped, how many paid a further £20 fee and applied again? How many complaints or requests for reactivation have you received in this category? Out of 248 cardholders of the letter category, whose cards were stopped, how many paid further £20 fee and applied again? How many complaints or requests for reactivation have you received in this category? How many Londoners on average applied for 60+ Oyster cards in 2018, 2019, and 2020? What methods do you use to verify the authenticity of residency for Londoners? Should you lose your case at the County Court, can I share this information with the media? I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 30 April 2021 asking for further information about 60+ Oyster cards.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.

Out of 14,975 cardholders of the email category, whose cards were stopped, how many paid a further £20 fee and applied again? How many complaints or requests for reactivation have you received in this category?

The 14,975 figure previously quoted was the total number of 60+ Oyster cards which were cancelled (by email or letter) in this period.  As advised, 14,727 of these were contacted via email.

Of the 14,727 cardholders who were notified by email and did not complete the yearly address check process, 5,235 reapplied.

We do not hold information relating to numbers of complaints or requests for reactivation of a 60+ photocard as we do not categorise complaints in this way.

Out of 248 cardholders of the letter category, whose cards were stopped, how many paid further £20 fee and applied again? How many complaints or requests for reactivation have you received in this category?

Of the 248 cardholders who were notified by letter and did not complete the yearly address check process, 29 reapplied.

We do not hold information relating to numbers of complaints or requests for reactivation of a 60+ photocard as we do not categorise complaints in this way.

How many Londoners on average applied for 60+ Oyster cards in 2018, 2019, and 2020?

Below is the total number of applications received in 2018-2020 where at least one 60+ Oyster photocard was printed:

2018 - 76,301
2019 - 80, 459
2020 - 61,636

What methods do you use to verify the authenticity of residency for Londoners?

We, and the Post Office on our behalf, check that the address on the supporting document is a London address, that it matches the address details given as part of the application and that it looks genuine. We also check that the billing address registered to the payment cards used for the £10 address check fee matches the address details given as part of the application.
