Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 24 April 2018 asking for information about bus driver complaints.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

We have interpreted your inquiry to be about how the bus is operated by drivers and searched for customer feedback related to ``poor’’ and/or ``dangerous’’ driving. This is the nearest information we hold to your request as we do not hold details of bus driver employees as they are employed directly by the private bus operators.

The 50 routes with the highest number of comments under this category are listed below, along with the complaint numbers. All the routes are among the busiest and most used, meaning they require many vehicles to deliver high frequencies each day and tend to encounter heavy traffic in central London. This will undoubted be a factor in them attracting more comments than less busy services with low numbers of vehicles and drivers in outlying areas. We expect the highest standards of London bus drivers and where there is evidence of poor driving from routine checks of vehicles in service or following an incident such as a police accident investigation, the bus operators will independently follow these through with internal inquiries and disciplinary proceedings, with the ultimately sanction of driver dismissal. Like any other motorist on the public highway, drivers will be at risk of losing their licence and work if prosecuted by the courts for dangerous driving.
