Freedom of information request On 22/03/2017 I made an enquiry ref 33230 to which I have not received a reply relating to the lack of working information boards at Wanstead Park and the apparent dropping of the 0802 service from Wanstead Park towards Blackhorse Road, as the service was clearly not running and had been removed from National Rail timetables. Although I didnt receive a reply the service was resumed shortly thereafter, restored to the online timetables and the boards have all been mended. These are all good. However, the 0802 is still subject to disproportionate cancellations. It has already been cancelled without explanation on 2 out of 3 working days this week. I dont think this is acceptable. It is timetabled service and should be run with the same reliability as the other scheduled trains. I am therefore now making a formal freedom of information act request, so please respond according to the guidelines governing this. Please can you let me know during the past 18 months how many times the 0802 from Wanstead Park travelling westwards towards Blackhorse Road has been cancelled compared to the 0754 and 0809. Could you please let me know the most common reasons for these cancellations - the top three would suffice. Does the service suffer from some kind of prevalence of mechanical problems that dont affect the services running either side of it? Do you lack rolling stock or staff to run the service? Please let me know.

Thank you for your email received by us on 20 April 2017 asking for information about London Overground.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

The lack of information regarding cancellations may have been related to a Network Rail system error that caused problems with displaying live service running information and through close liaison with Network Rail the problem was rectified.

The 07:54 ran 100% of the time from May 2016 (before then it was a slightly different service that we are unable to obtain data for). The 08:02 service ran 85.6% of scheduled journeys in the past 18 months and the 08:09 service ran 99.5% of scheduled journeys over the same period.

This service is additional to the normal timetable and has been specifically run to alleviate high passenger demand during the morning peak. It is therefore run with the proviso that it will be the most likely unit to be withdrawn to cover elsewhere if there are any shortages / rolling stock issues eg. a faulty train unit that cannot run in passenger service. If you look at a timetable this service has “SX A” above it – the variation in the timetable is typical of such services – and the notes explain the exception of this service to normal timetabled services. For example it only runs – SX- Mon-Fri unlike other services that run to Sat. Its route (footnoted in the timetable with the letter A) is also unusual in that it runs to Hampstead Heath on the North London Line and does not call at Gospel Oak. From Hampstead Heath it then continues on the North London Line to Willesden Junction as (unlike services running to Gospel Oak) it is not required in the off-peak and so returns to Willesden Depot.
