Our ref: FOI-0163-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 25 April 2017 asking for information about Penalty Charge Notices issued for West Hill SW18 / Firestation.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

  1. The number of PCN issued in the last 12 months for the above Box

We issued 16,930 PCNs to vehicles contravening the yellow box restriction outside the Fire Station on West Hill SW18 between 1 April 2016 and 31 March 2017.

  2. The number of successful appeals for the above Box

As at 4 May 2017, we have cancelled 225 of the above PCNs following receipt of representations made to TfL and 7 PCNs have been cancelled following appeals to the independent Adjudicator.

  3. The number of times the Fire service exited/returned this fire station in the last 12 months

We do not record this information. Red routes, by their very nature, are some of the busiest and most congested roads in London. The purpose of installing a box junction outside a Fire Station is to facilitate the London Fire Brigade (LFB) in responding to emergencies with the minimum of delay. The LFB aims to have the first fire appliance on scene within 6 minutes and the second within 8 minutes. To achieve this, it is vitally important they are able to turn out of the Fire Station swiftly.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
