Request ID: FOI-0149-2324 Date published: 11 May 2023
You asked
Hi i recent was travelling through London and on the radio a TFL advert relating to climate and emissions came on. It stated that the most polluted area in London is now in your car. My requests are how did TFL come to this outcome and get such data and where is the data relating to this can I see it. I fear people will be taxed for simply driving a car soon into London regardless of emissions status ie euro6 . My fear is the advert is highly misleading and it needs clarifying.
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-0149-2324 Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 12th April 2023 asking for information about a recent radio advert about the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ). Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. Specifically you asked: “Hi i recent was travelling through London and on the radio a TFL advert relating to climate and emissions came on. It stated that the most polluted area in London is now in your car. My requests are how did TFL come to this outcome and get such data and where is the data relating to this can I see it. I fear people will be taxed for simply driving a car soon into London regardless of emissions status ie euro6. My fear is the advert is highly misleading and it needs clarifying.” TfL does not hold the requested information. The Greater London Authority (GLA) has been running adverts on the same subject and we believe the advert you refer to is part of their campaign. You may therefore wish to re-direct your question to that body. FOI requests to the GLA can be made via its website here: https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/governance-and-spending/sharing-our-information/freedom-information Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
