Bus usage occupancy data on bus routes

Request ID: FOI-0143-2425
Date published: 01 May 2024

You asked

Follow-up to FOI-4622-2324: I would instead like to alternatively request the information to be forwarded only on the data for bus usage occupancy sent from the 19th March 2024 at 23:05 PM. This is only one request that should lower the costs altogether. The other requests I would hold for the time being. If you could forward the information under that request, that would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can confirm that we hold the information you require, which is provided in the attached spreadsheet. Please note the following:

The data is taken from the “BUSTO 2023/24 P09” dataset which holds a snapshot of bus demand data from the November-December 2023 period. The data is broken down by route, direction and stop with the average bus occupancy as a percentage for each time period. We do not have the data for some of the time periods specified in your request, but the following time periods are used in BUSTO and this extends to this FOI:

  • Weekday Early AM (05:00-07:00)
  • Weekday AM Peak (07:00-10:00)
  • Weekday Inter-Peak (10:00-16:00)
  • Weekday PM Peak (16:00-19:00)
  • Weekday Early Evening (19:00-22:00)
  • Weekday Late Evening (22:00-00:00)
  • Saturday Morning (05:00-10:00)
  • Saturday Midday (10:00-19:00)
  • Saturday Early Evening (19:00-22:00)
  • Saturday Late Evening (22:00-00:00)
  • Sunday Morning (05:00-10:00)
  • Sunday Midday (10:00-19:00)
  • Sunday Early Evening (19:00-22:00)
  • Sunday Late Evening (22:00-00:00)

We do not have a breakdown by section of the route, but the attached data has bus occupancy data for each stop on the route, and this can be used to find the sections of interest.
