Details of diversion in place between A2 Great Dover Street and Mansion House

You asked

There was a diversion sign on the A201 roundabout indicating that Tower Bridge Road/Tower Bridge was closed on 26 February 2021. The diversion sign was on the entrance to the A2 Great Dover Street and ended at Mansion House. Please confirm: when the diversion was put in place and confirm the diversion route took traffic across Blackfriars Bridge. Please can you also confirm the language on the diversion sign at the entrance to Great Dover Street. This information is required in order to defend a ULEZ penalty charge and the hearing is on 15 May but we have to provide evidence to arrive with the adjudicator by 10 May.

TfL Ref: FOI-0122-2122 Thank you for your request of 19th April 2021 for information about a diversion in place between the A2 Great Dover Street and Mansion House in February. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. Specifically you asked: “There was a diversion sign on the A201 roundabout indicating that Tower Bridge Road/Tower Bridge was closed on 26 February 2021. The diversion sign was on the entrance to the A2 Great Dover Street and ended at Mansion House. Please confirm: when the diversion was put in place and confirm the diversion route took traffic across Blackfriars Bridge. Please can you also confirm the language on the diversion sign at the entrance to Great Dover Street. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Please see the attached document which shows the diversion route for the Tower Bridge Closure as well as the wording on the various signs in use. The diversion was in place from 23rd to 27th February 2021. Note the diversion did not send road users over Blackfriars Bridge – the diversion was via Southwark Bridge in both directions. In addition to the signs in the attached, the City of London came to an agreement with our Congestion Charge Team to produce and have in place additional signs advising motorist that to avoid the Congestion Charge they would need to follow the diversion signs.
