FOI request detail

Cycle segregation on Waterloo Bridge

Request ID: FOI-0122-1819
Date published: 14 May 2018

You asked

Based on evidence submitted to the consultation for the transformation of the road around the IMAX at Waterloo, I understand Lambeth Council prepared three designs for the segregation of cyclists from other traffic on Waterloo Bridge in 2015 and submitted these to Transport for London for consideration. Please provide a PDF copy of these three designs. Please also provide any summary report prepared alongside the plans (that I would expect to include, for example, a summary of the positive and negative aspects of each design). Please also provide a copy of the latest correspondence between Transport for London and Lambeth Council explaining why these designs have not yet been formally progressed.

Our Ref:          FOI-0122-1819

Thank you for your request received on 15 April 2018 asking for information about cycle segregation on Waterloo Bridge.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:

Please find attached the three designs as requested which were produced in December 2015. The designs were reviewed verbally with Lambeth Officers so we do not hold any supporting documentation. We do not hold any correspondence with the London Borough of Lambeth regarding progression of these designs. Funding was only granted to provide design drawings and no funding was allocated for build. Lambeth have not requested funding from TfL to progress these designs. While TfL is the highway authority for the IMAX roundabout, Waterloo Bridge is part managed by Lambeth and Westminster City Council. In order for any design to be progressed it would need to be supported by both Lambeth and Westminster City Council.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
