We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-0121-2122 Thank you for your request of 16th April 2021 about the 490 bus route, as clarified on 21st April 2021. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. Specifically you asked: “1. I would like to know the type of buses (electric, hybrid, hydrogen, etc.) which serve route 490 in both directions (Heathrow T5 and Pools in the Park) which have the following registration (last plate digits): YJX, YJV, YJU, YJW, YKA, YJO, YJS, YJR, YJZ, YZA, YJP. 2. How many complaints have you received for noise nuisance that the buses on the 490 route make (including those with the registration as above) compare to complaints from noise nuisance from buses from other routes in the area? 3. Are the types of buses servicing the 490 route different to these of other routes servicing the area: 110, 190, H37. In regard to question 2, you clarified that this relates to the last 12 months and to any type of noise complaint. Your questions are answered in turn below: Answer to question 1: the buses contracted to operate on route 490 are Euro VI-generation Enviro 200 diesel vehicles. These correspond to the licence numbers you have listed in your inquiry. While they are contracted to the route, operators may sometimes need to substitute vehicles to enable maintenance, repairs and refurbishment to take place or provide capacity on other services they run. Answer to question 2: in the period 01/04/2020 to 31/03/2021 no noise related complaints were found for bus routes 490, 110 or H37. Two noise related complaints were found for bus route 190. Answer to question 3: the buses used on the four routes are identical chassis and engine-wise. The only variance is that the newer examples were built to Euro VI standard whereas the older versions were built as Euro IV and subsequently upgraded to the Euro VI engine standard. The H37 vehicles are slightly longer than the 490/110 vehicles, and the 190 vehicles are slightly shorter. The 190 vehicles have bodywork built by a different manufacturer.
