Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 8 April 2024 asking for information about our vehicle fleet.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Your questions and our replies are below – note there are two separate answers representing our fleet vehicles and assisted transport vehicles:
Vehicle fleet information: How many vehicles does the Authority own and/or operate within each of the following categories and how many of these have a registered capacity to carry wheelchair passengers:
1.1. M1 (passenger carrying vehicles up to 9 seats – 1 driver & 8 passengers) 1.1.1. Total Number: 26 1.1.2. Of which are wheelchair accessible: 0
1.2. M2 (passenger carrying vehicles below 5 tonnes) 1.2.1. Total Number: 0 1.2.2. Of which are wheelchair accessible: 0
1.3. M3 (passenger carrying vehicles above 5 tonnes) 1.3.1. Total Number: 0 1.3.2. Of which are wheelchair accessible: 0
Vehicle Fleet Information – Assisted Transport vehicles:
1. How many vehicles does the Authority own and/or operate within each of the following categories and how many of these have a registered capacity to carry wheelchair passengers:
1.1. M1 1.1.1. Total Number: 0 1.1.2. Of which are wheelchair accessible: N/A 1.2. M2 1.2.1. Total Number: 246 1.2.2. Of which are wheelchair accessible: 100% All of our vehicles were built and registered as M2 buses; however, we only have 8 seats and therefore operate them as M1. 1.3. M3 1.3.1. Total Number: 0 1.3.2. Of which are wheelchair accessible: N/A
Please note that TfL do not operate any buses directly, as bus operators operate these on our behalf.
