TfL Ref: 0067-2223

Thank you for your request received by us on 11 April 2022 asking for information about boarding and alighting bus passenger numbers in relation to bus route 384.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act  and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:
how many customers get on and off at the bus stop to Cockfosters (TJ33) at the junction of The Avenue/Alston Road (actually junction of Alston Rd & Salisbury Rd) for the following periods
2022 - To end March 22
2021
2020
2019
2018
I would also like the same information and for the same time periods for Bus Stop T on Salisbury Road between Stapylton Rd and High St.
Please see the following requested data for the two stops of interest serving bus route 384. Please also note that:

  • The demand figures provided in the table are for all routes serving bus stops TJ33 and bus stop T. This covers the calendar years 2018 through to 2021, and for the first three months of 2022.

  • Boarding and alighting figures are provided as totals combined across both stops. Stop TJ33 is a Hail and Ride stop; because of this the onboard ticketing system allocates all demand to the next fixed stop along the route, which in this case is at bus stop T.

All alight figures are inferred; passengers are not required to scan their Oyster or contactless cards upon leaving the bus, hence the figures provided will not be as truly reflective as the boarder numbers provided. The latter is based on ticket verification data, which is captured when passengers either have to show their paper tickets to the driver or touch in on the Oyster/contactless card readers upon boarding.

Calendar Year Boarders Total (combined for stop TJ33 and stop T) Alighters Total (combined for stop TJ33 and stop T)
2018 27,345 1,495
2019 26,959 1,544
2020 12,698 3,095
2021 13,227 4,004
2022 (Up to 31 March 2022) 3,684 2,826
