Date published: 26 April 2023

You asked

Follow up from 3367-2223 My trip was made using Google Maps as a guide and, whilst warning me of entering the ULEZ zone, did not advise me I would be entering the CCZ. I would like, under FOI, evidence of the last time TfL conferred with Google Maps on this issue.

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-0058-2223

Thank you for your follow up request which we received on 5 April 2023, asking about the last time TfL discussed the Congestion Charge Zone (CCZ) boundary with Google Maps.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

Our last contact with Google was recent - in the last 2 months. However, this was about sharing data for the new Ultra Low Emission Zone boundary. To our knowledge we have not advised Google on how their road charging feature should function.

We provide a detailed map of where the CCZ operates on our website at https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/congestion-charge-zone

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
