Our Ref: FOI-0048-2324
Thank you for your request received by us on 5 April 2023 asking for information about staff travel passes.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
Staff and Nominee passes are discretionary benefits. They are a key recruitment and retention tool and come as part of job employment packs. Their provision has been a long-standing part of the overall reward package given to both TfL employees and third parties such as bus operators since before TfL was formed in 2000. TfL employees are eligible for a Retired Staff Oyster if they retire at age 50 or over and have at least 20 years’ service with a participating employer or successor to London Regional Transport. Exceptions to this are Chief Officers and medical retirements.
