TfL Stations and Lines - Entry and Exit Data

Request ID: FOI-0048-2021
Date published: 16 June 2020

You asked

Thank you for your email and the information provided. Do you have by any chance the stations & lines on a GIS format (KML, SHP, or URL Service)? or as an excel file with the coordinates appended? On a separate note, I’ve noticed the total number of passenger (entries/exits figures) haven’t been updated since 2017. Is there anything more recent or TfL has stopped publishing that data? https://data.london.gov.uk/dataset/london-underground-performance-reports

I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. The relevant files - where we hold them - are attached with this email.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

On your question about the the entry and exit data, I understand that there is an intention to update this data at some juncture. However, at present our Analytics team are working around the clock, including at weekends and bank holidays, to support analysis for UK Government, London Resilience, and our own operations in response to the Coronavirus. I am afraid that there is no date that I can give at present as to when that data will be published. That said, there is some aggregate data published that might be of interest to you. This is provided by period for each mode back to 2010. Currently, the information is available up to the end of period 11 (1st February 2020), and further periods will be published in due course:

On a more general matter, please note that the Government has announced a series of measures to tackle the Coronavirus. It is essential for London, and in particular for all critical workers, that we continue to provide a safe transport network that enables them to make the journeys they need to.

In current circumstances, we are not able to answer FOI requests readily and we ask that you please do not make a request to us at present.

Answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. In any event, please note that our response time will be affected by the current situation.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely,

David Wells
