Dear Mr Ghobarah

Our ref: FOI-0039-1920/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3 April 2019 asking for information about the Central line.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.

Specific detail of the work undertaken (ie what was replaced, were any different materials used to replace existing parts, etc)

At the time of the complaint in December 2016 London Underground had dug out the shingle from the drainage channel in the track for 24m west of Bethnal Green station. Subsequently we have completed the full renewal of the track in that area installing modern track components including delkor resilient baseplates. I can confirm that these works are now complete.

Any related impact studies (or similar type exercise) that was undertaken in advance of the work undertaken just west of Bethnal Green station in December 2016.

There have not been any studies done specifically in this area.

Detailed below the maintainer has install pandrol vanguard through an area within this section or track in July 2016, he has not identified any other works planned in the area.

The Pandrol Vanguard track fixing system has been installed in multiple areas of the London Underground network in place of standard rail fastening assemblies.  The primary purpose of installing the resilient track fixing unit is to provide mitigation against ground borne vibration. Installation for Liverpool Street to Bethnal Green was undertaken around July 2016, area of installation is below on the table and a photo of the Pandrol Vanguard is also below. The reason for installation was due to the ground borne noise residents were experiencing.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
