TfL Ref: 0030-2324

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3 April 2023 asking for information about the 497 and 346 bus routes.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

With your consultation into the extension of the 497 bus route from Cranham to Harold Wood, please provide me with full details including plans and correspondence of the purposed widening of Waycross Road and the installation of driver toilets in the same area.

In our consultation material published here: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/bus-routes-346-347-497, we reference: “highway changes at Waycross Road to make space for both the 497 and the 248”. We can advise that this is in reference to a likely need to extend the bus stand to accommodate two routes, rather than envisaging a highway widening. Please also note that there are no detailed plans or proposals in this regard. These would need to be developed with the local borough as Highway Authority, upon conclusion of the consultation.

Additionally, the need to install driver toilets cannot be confirmed until the consultation has concluded, and again no plans have been made.

In the meantime, please find attached correspondence between TfL’s Transport Planning Team and the London Borough of Havering about the routing of bus route 497.
