Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2 April 2024 asking for information about Oyster retailer requirements.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

Locations of Oyster ticket stops (technically called Retail Agents) can be found via the TfL website via the following link:

https://tfl.gov.uk/maps/oyster-ticket-stops 

Once a location or postcode is selected, the individual addresses can be shown by clicking on each symbol.  New agents are appointed most weeks and some close, so this is a dynamic link.

Anyone wishing to be a Retail Agent has to meet requirements which include minimum opening hours, passing credit checks and the provision of a suitable phone line.  There is no set minimum or maximum distance between Retail Agents, consideration is given to how many Agents are required for an area and station ticket machines available.
