You asked

F/O from 2884-2122 Dear FOI, As per your recent response I would like to narrow the scope of the request to: “ I would also like to know how many, (if any), persons under this recruitment campaign (of either code) reached a stage further than AC1. If so, I would like to know how many people progressed to each stage and at what date.” I am aware this campaign is still ongoing. Please provide information to date.

We answered

TfL Ref0016-2223

Thank you for your clarified request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 6 April 2022 asking for information about CSA Night Tube Recruitment.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  Regarding a recent recruitment campaign for Customer Service Assistant - Night Tube, you asked: I would also like to know how many, (if any), persons under this recruitment campaign reached a stage further than AC1. If so, I would like to know how many people progressed to each stage and at what date.

I can confirm that we hold the information you require. However, to provide the information you have requested would exceed the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by the Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with requests if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other information would exceed the appropriate limit. In this instance, we estimate that the time required to answer your request would exceed 18 hours which, at £25 per hour (the rate stipulated by the Regulations), exceeds the ‘appropriate limit’.

We estimate it would take in excess of 29 hours to answer your request for information regarding this recruitment campaign, specifically to answer the part of your request when you ask for the dates that individuals have progressed to each stage in the recruitment process. This is because the dates are variable and are specific to each individual therefore to provide this information we would need to look at the individual records we hold for each candidate to extract the dates candidates progressed to the next stage of the process that you have requested and then collate this information.

To help bring the cost of responding to your requests within the £450 limit, you may wish to consider refining your requests to concentrate on matters which are important to you.

Although your request can take the form of a question, rather than a request for specific documents, TfL does not have to answer your question if it would require the creation of new information or the provision of a judgement, explanation, advice or opinion that was not already recorded at the time of your request. If you have specific questions relating to these topics we may be more easily able to respond to these than to a request for any information held.

If you submitted a fresh request we could potentially provide data on the numbers of candidates who have progressed from stage AC1 to AC2 and AC2 to AC3, however it should be noted that this is an ongoing recruitment campaign with multiple groups being assessed on a regular basis, so any numbers would only be a snapshot of the position at the time and will change as and when more candidates are seen.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
