You asked

I would like to know how many Islington blue badge bays are now out of use or have been removed due to the new road closures LTN's, People Friendly Streets initiative. I would also like to know how many blue badge bays there were in Islington as of December 2019 and how many there are now, in April 2021.

We answered

Our ref: FOI-0016-2122/GH Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 4 April March 2021 asking for information about Islington blue badge bays and Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs). Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. Unfortunately we do not hold the information you require as the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in Islington are borough led schemes. TfL is responsible for the red routes which make up the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN). We have not made any changes to blue badge bays on our road network as a result of the LTNs, and therefore the number of bays in Islington on the TLRN has not changed due to LTN implementation. We can however confirm that there are 17 blue badge bays on the TLRN in LB Islington. The length of each bay varies, but each bay can accommodate at least one vehicle. We also allow blue badge holders to park in some of our loading bays (restrictions apply), these figures are not included above. TfL does not hold information regarding blue badge bays which are on non TLRN roads in LB Islington. You may therefore wish to redirect your request to the London Borough of Islington: https://www.islington.gov.uk/about-the-council/information-governance/freedom-of-information/freedom-of-information-request If you are considering submitting a further FOI request to TfL, please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. Where requests are made, please note that our response time may be impacted by the current situation. If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
