Where you can use Travelcards

Buses and Trams

Travelcards are valid on all buses that display this sign.

Travelcards which are valid in Zones 3, 4, 5 or 6 can be used on all tram services.

Tube, DLR, London Overground and TfL Rail

You can buy Travelcards on Oyster, for travel across Zones 1-9.

You should check that your Travelcard is valid for all the zones you travel through. Some journeys are defined as requiring travel via Zone 1, no matter which actual route you take.

If your Travelcard does not cover your whole journey, you will be charged an extension fare which is taken from your pay as you go balance. If your balance is negative, you may need to top up your Oyster card before you travel again, even if you have a valid Travelcard.

National Rail

Travelcards on Oyster can be used on most National Rail services in Zones 1-9 and outside London to Watford Junction, Broxbourne, Hertford East, Ware, St Margarets, Rye House and Shenfield.

They are not valid on:

  • Heathrow Connect between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow
  • Heathrow Express
  • Southeastern high speed services between St Pancras International and Stratford International)

Some Travelcards from other stations outside London are available as paper tickets from National Rail and some London Overground and TfL Rail stations.

Emirates Air Line

You can get discounted fares on the Emirates Air Line cable car with a Travelcard.

River services

You can get a third off the normal Riverboat fare on some services.
