Engineering & Technology - Year in Industry

Get invaluable experience on your way to becoming a Chartered Engineer.

How long: One year

Where: The role will be based in London.  Hybrid working (typically working from home no more than 50% of the time) 

Salary: £21,824 pro rata

What you'll need

You'll need to be in the penultimate year of your degree and be on track to achieve a minimum of 2:2 BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc in electrical, electronic, systems or mechatronic engineering or a closely related subject accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Candidates with IET accredited pure Mechanical Engineering degrees will only be considered for the Systems Engineering stream.

What you'll be doing

The one-year extraordinary development program offers a wide range of opportunities. It's designed to provide you with invaluable experience on the road to becoming a Chartered Engineer.

You'll complete three four-month placements, in different teams. Through your work on live projects, you'll gain a solid understanding of what drives our business and how we deliver.

You'll be working alongside specialist engineers working across the whole lifecycle of a wide variety of systems.

Both our graduate and placement schemes focus on developing 'world class' engineers who will become the senior engineers and leaders of the future.

To guide our choice of first placement and to help you to get the most out of your year with us, you'll be asked to express a preference for one of the following streams on application:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Systems Engineering
  • Technology Engineering
