Engineering & Technology - Summer Internship

Gain a broad grounding of engineering and a good understanding of what drives our business and how we deliver.

How long: 12 Weeks

Where: The role will be based in London.  Hybrid working (typically working from home no more than 50% of the time). 

Salary: £21,824 (pro rata)

What you'll need

You'll need to be in the penultimate year of your degree and be on track to achieve a minimum of 2:2 in BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc in electrical, electronic, systems or mechatronic engineering or a closely related subject accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Candidates with IET accredited pure Mechanical Engineering degrees will only be considered for the Systems Engineering stream.

What you'll be doing

This 12-week development programme is packed with a variety of opportunities, designed to provide you with first-hand experience of life as an engineer at TfL. We'll support you in your ambition of becoming a fully chartered engineer.

Your programme will offer you hands-on experience with one of our engineering teams. By working on live projects, you'll gain a broad grounding in engineering and a good understanding of what drives our business and how we deliver.

You'll be working alongside specialist engineers working on a placement across the lifecycle of a wide variety of systems.

The emphasis of both our placement and graduate schemes is on developing 'world-class' engineers who seek to become the senior engineers and leaders of the future.

To guide our choice of placement and to help you to get the most out of it, you will be asked to express a preference for one of the following streams on application:

  • Systems Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Technology Engineering
