Transport for London (TfL) is celebrating Hot Cocoa Day today (13 December) by spotlighting some of the winter warmers available across all corners of its estate. As the days get colder, it's the perfect excuse to enjoy a hot drink treat to really warm up the cockles.

TfL has more than 500 cafés to explore from Elizabeth line stations to Tram stops. With so many coffee shops conveniently located out and about on the network there is something for everyone to enjoy.

These include Shed London in Clapham South station which is offering 10 per cent off all hot drinks today (13 December) to mark Hot Cocoa Day. This branch opened in 2019 and is one of four sites across London, having started out from a creative studio in east London back in 2010.

Brendan Olley, founder of Shed London, said: "We are proud that the Clapham South branch has become an integral part of the local community. We offer unparalleled quality coffee service that adds a very special pitstop for the local community and commuters alike. We are starting to see sales slowly increase as more people return to the network which is encouraging and heading into the near future, we are focussing on our people and the high quality offer we are known for."

Meanwhile London Transport Museum's café, Canteen, is offering a hot chocolate (regular or festive) for just £1 with any festive sandwich purchased today (13 December) on Hot Cocoa Day - and some of their hot drinks are topped with TfL's iconic roundel.

There's also a chance to win a vintage style metal water bottle thanks to the Museum to celebrate Hot Cocoa Day - the perfect accessory to keep hydrated while out and about on the network. To be in with a chance of winning, head to TfL's Instagram @transportforlondon and simply comment and tag to enter! This competition will close on Sunday 18 December at 23:59.

Jeevani Subasinghe, Head of Station Retail at TfL, said: "Hot Cocoa Day is a great excuse to pop into one of the hundreds of cafes across the TfL estate near your home or office, or while you're out and about on the transport network. More than 90 per cent of our tenants are small or independent businesses and you might discover a new favourite spot."

Other stores on the TfL estate include Perky Blenders - the award-winning specialty coffee company - which is offering customers who make a purchase through their online store a free hot drink in any of their outlets until the end of December. Perky Blenders Coffee Roasters has outlets on the TfL estate and originally opened a kiosk at Leytonstone station on Valentine's Day in 2017. They now have four outlets, including Walthamstow Central and their most recent opening at Finchley Road station.

Adam Cozens, Co-founder of Perky Blenders, said: "We love giving and this is a great way for everyone to get their perk over the winter period. When our customers gift or buy online, we reward them each time in our shops with a free drink. This also works with several of the outlets we supply to, not just our own coffee shops."

Tart Modern in Baker Street station may be best known for their delicious Portuguese tarts and excellent customer service but they also offer a wide variety of hot drinks too. The store opened its doors earlier this year and currently offers a Nata, a delicious freshly-baked Portuguese-style tart, and hot drink for just £3.50.

Stephen Zatland, Chief Executive at Tart Modern, said: "We have noticed that we are consistently seeing customers buy a drink and Nata even with the current cost of living crisis. Perhaps people aren't spending as much on the big luxuries during this time, but they can still afford the smaller luxuries in life."
