Chancery Lane station improvement works

24 October 2013
  • Station will be closed when fewer passengers use it on: Sundays 17, 24 November, 1 December and on Christmas Day Wednesday 25 until Monday 30 December inclusive

Improvement works are to be carried out to Chancery Lane Tube station, with walls, floors and tiling refreshed, new tiling installed where necessary and woodwork freshly painted. Electrical rewiring will be carried out with a new cable management system installed to support new lighting and an updated Public Address system.

To ensure the improvement works are carried out safely and efficiently the station will be closed on Sunday 17, 24 November, 1 December, and from Christmas Day Wednesday 25 until Monday 30 December inclusive.

Customers will be advised to use Holborn station which is approximately a 10-minute walk along High Holborn. Alternatively, any bus from stop F on High Holborn goes to Holborn.

Peter McNaught, Operations Director (Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines) for London Underground, said: 'For safety reasons we need to carry out this improvement work while the station is shut. To limit any disruption Chancery Lane station will be closed when fewer people use the station - on three Sundays 17, 24 November and 1 December, on Christmas Day when the network is closed in any event and  then from Thursday 26 until Monday 30 December inclusive, when there are far fewer passengers.'

'Customers will be able to use nearby Holborn station - which is a 10-minute walk or a short bus ride away.'
