The trip was organised by Briggs Marine, the recently appointed operator of the Woolwich Ferry, and gave over four hundred disabled children, along with their carers, a chance to enjoy a ride up river to Tower Bridge and back.

The children were invited from all over the capital and were welcomed on board the bunting strewn John Burns ferry by Buzz Lightyear and Mickey Mouse.

On board there was entertainment galore which included a puppet show, a chance to meet the Pearly Kings and Queens and a disco on the top deck so everyone could dance the afternoon away as they passed some of London's most beautiful sights.

Collieson Briggs, Managing Director of Briggs Marine and Environmental Services, said: 'Briggs was delighted to bring back this event after such a long time and helping bring so much joy to the children.

'We would love to ensure this annual event goes on to infinity and beyond.'
