Over half a million Londoners enjoy travel using Oyster
Oyster can either be used like a conventional Travelcard, as Oyster Pre Pay or a combination of the two. When using Oyster as Pre Pay adults pay 2003 prices for single journeys throughout 2004.
The benefits of using Oyster include:
-
No more queuing at Tube station ticket machines or ticket offices if you buy your Oyster over the phone or online (1.).
-
Simply 'touch in touch out' to get through the gates easily.
-
No searching for change to buy a ticket every time you travel.
-
By registering your Oyster card it will be protected against loss or theft.
-
Top up your cards when it suits you.
Charles Monheim, Director of Ticketing and Fares at TfL said;
'Oyster is a simpler way to travel around London. It's quicker too. Adult Tube passengers can enjoy the added benefit of paying less for single journeys by opting for Oyster Pre Pay. However you chose to use Oyster, the only thing to remember is to always touch your card flat on the reader on the way in and out, even if the gates are open. If you don't, you may be charged more for your journey.'
Oyster will be available on the buses and Tramlink in Spring 2004
