Network demand data

Network demand dashboard

We've created a Power BI dashboard to visualise TfL's historic and current demand data (since 2019) across our Rail and Bus modes - this is aggregated across stations and time periods.

Journeys data

The Journeys data underlying the dashboard is available for exporting through a series of yearly files.

  • Journeys data is available only for Bus and Tube journeys
  • Data has been segregated into each year from 2019-2022
  • Data from 1 January 2023 to date has been compiled into a single file which gets refreshed with data until the last Saturday, once a week
  • Since there might be Taps data coming in late to our servers, there might be slight discrepancies between the data in the file and the dashboard - the dashboard is updated more frequently, and so will be more up-to-date

Station footfall data

Station footfall data underlying the dashboard is available to export through a series of yearly files.

  • Station footfall data is available for our Tube and rail stations
  • Data has been segregated into each year from 2019-2022
  • Data from 1 January 2023 to date has been compiled into a single file which gets refreshed with data until the last Saturday, once a week
  • Since Taps data might be coming in late to our servers, there might be slight discrepancies between the data in the file and the dashboard - the dashboard is updated more frequently and so would be more up to date

Data guide

Our reporting methodology, assumptions and calculations are documented in the 'Data Guide' linked to the Network Demand Dashboard landing page.
