How long: 3 years
Where: London/ Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4 week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

What you'll need
- A minimum of 5 GCSE's Grade A* - C or Grade 4 and above including Maths and English Language or equivalents
- You must be 18 years old by September 2024 to be eligible for this scheme

TfL's transport planners are responsible for ensuring that the millions of journeys made every single day in London are safe, reliable and sustainable.
With London's population ever-increasing, it's more important than ever that we deliver transport networks that:
- Encourage active travel (walking, cycling and public transport)
- Improve air quality
- Reduce the numbers of private cars on the roads
It takes a range of disciplines to make these changes happen, including:
- Engineering
- Data analysis
- Computer modelling
- Project management
- Public communications
All of which you'll get to engage with on this apprenticeship.
What you'll be doing
As an apprentice, your three-year development programme will be made up of at least five six-month placement rotations.
Our aim is to equip you with the range of skills and experience you need for your successful career.
We also understand that everyone's career is different, so every apprentice's journey is unique.
Placements are flexible, taking into account business needs and each apprentice's unique strengths, interests and study requirements.
Where this career can take you
On successful completion of this scheme, you'll be eligible to apply for a range of roles across various planning departments, including, but not limited to:
- Assistant Planner
- Assistant Project Sponsor
- Network Performance Officer, among others
Any of these roles could see you progress into more senior positions as you develop your knowledge, skills and experience.
Successful completion of the scheme will also grant you membership of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), which could lead to further opportunities both inside and outside TfL.
