Replacing the Lancaster Gate lifts is part of our plans to improve the Tube.
Closing the station will let us finish the lift work as quickly and safely as possible.
The current lifts are nearly 30 years old and are being replaced to improve reliability, reduce operating costs and provide a more comfortable ride.
Space is tight in the machine room and ticket hall. Because of this, and the design of the lift shafts, it is safer and simpler to replace both lifts at the same time.
For the Central line, please use nearby Marble Arch or Queensway stations.
You can also use nearby Paddington station for the Bakerloo, Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines.
Each station is a short walk or bus journey from Lancaster Gate. The map above shows walking and bus routes.
