Travel impact: Saturday 30 July

**The information in this section relates to the 2016 event - please check back nearer the time for details of 2017's travel changes. The dates for next year's Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling are Saturday 29-Sunday 30 July 2017**

The cycling events mean that:

  • Road closures will be in place from 05:00-18:00, impacting more than the immediate Prudential RideLondon route
  • Buses will be on diversion or will finish early due to the road closures
  • Tube and rail will be the best way to get around central London on the day although some stations around the routes are expected to be busier than usual, especially before and after the cycling events

Often walking is the quickest option during big events in London. It's healthy, free and can often get you from A to B quicker. For maps and more information about walking in London, visit our walking section.

Footways along the routes will stay open, with crowd and safety barriers in place along certain sections. Marshalled crossing points will be available in these areas to help people cross the route safely.

Please take extra care if crossing any part of the route on foot.

        Local residents

Any road used as part of the route for the Prudential RideLondon events will be closed for the event.

Detailed road closure information and local access information can be found in the Prudential RideLondon road closure leaflets which have been created by the event organisers, London and Surrey Cycle Partnership.

        For London airports

If you're planning to drive to a London airport, check if your journey takes you across the race routes. Allow plenty of time to travel, use public transport to make your journey instead, or plan alternative routes to avoid the road closures.

        Plan your deliveries

If you make or receive deliveries in London, talk to your customers and suppliers ahead of time. You may want to consider changing the times of your deliveries to avoid road closures, or using alternative routes that avoid busy areas.
