Travelling by Tube and rail

Tube and rail will be the best way to get around central London on the day, but Stratford station and some stations around the routes are expected to be busier than usual. Plan your journey using our journey planner.

If you're taking part in RideLondon and are planning on taking your bike on public transport, please use National Rail's PlusBike service for free information about your combined cycle and mainline rail journey.

Planned works

View TfL's closures on our status page for Friday 28, Saturday 29 or Sunday 30 July.

Using Santander Cycles

On Saturday 29 July, extra Santander Cycles bikes will be available at the following docking stations near the FreeCycle route between 09:00-16:00:

  • Craven Street
  • Newgate Street
  • Sardinia Street
  • Somerset House
  • Waterloo Bridge
  • Wellington Arch

Bike mechanics will be on hand to help Santander Cycles users and other cyclists with any bike problems.

Busy roads may make it difficult for us to redistribute Santander Cycles at docking stations near the events, but you can check availability using the live docking station map.

There are more than 11,000 bikes at over 750 docking stations situated every 300 to 500 metres in London. Visit our cycling section for full information.

Thames Clippers are putting on a Prudential RideLondon river service from Blackfriars Pier to Canary Wharf, North Greenwich and Trinity Buoy Wharf. Riders can store their bike safely and relax while enjoying London's views and an on-board coffee bar.  Tickets for this special transfer must be booked in advance online from Thames Clippers' website.
