  • Follow the westbound signed diversion route along Chelsea Bridge Road and Sloane Street to the A4 Brompton Road
  • Vehicles will not be able to turn right to travel west from all roads that join Chelsea Embankment between Chelsea Bridge Road and Beaufort Street
  • Allow more time for your journey, especially during peak hours 07:00-10:00 and 16:00-19:00 on weekdays
  • The Low Emission Zone will operate as normal

For the latest information on traffic conditions, see our traffic status updates page or follow @TfLTrafficNews on Twitter.

Buses

Routes 170 and 360 westbound will be diverted and the following bus stops will be closed:

  • Route 170 towards Roehampton: QD on Chelsea Embankment and BC on Cheyne Walk
  • Route 360 towards Royal Albert Hall: Bull Ring Gate (buses will turn directly right from Grosvenor Road into Chelsea Bridge Road)

Route 170 buses westbound will be diverted between Pimlico Road and Battersea Bridge via Lower Sloane Street, Sloane Square station, King's Road and Beaufort Street, not serving Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea Embankment or Cheyne Walk. They will serve all stops on diversion.

A free shuttle bus, route 570, is serving westbound stops on Royal Hospital Road, connecting with westbound route 170 at Lower Sloane Street. The shuttle bus:

  • Runs every 20-40 minutes daily, between 06:00 and midnight
  • Serves all three westbound stops in Royal Hospital Road Starts at stop U in Royal Hospital Road (diverted westbound route 170 buses serve stop L in Lower Sloane Street nearby)
  • Finishes at stop L in Lower Sloane Street (connecting with diverted westbound route 170 buses at this stop)
  • The service is free of charge but please continue to touch in as you get on the bus - you will not be charged

Eastbound route 170 and 360 buses (towards Victoria/Elephant & Castle) will operate as normal.

If you use pay as you go on Oyster or contactless, you can transfer from one route 170 bus to another in the opposite direction to complete your journey in this area at no extra cost. Please ask the bus driver for a transfer ticket.

Routes 11, 19, 22, 49, 211, 319, N11, N19 and N22 will not be diverted but may be delayed as traffic finds alternative routes.

Pedestrians travelling westbound will need to follow signage along Chelsea Embankment.

Other works in the area

After recent trial excavations, Tideway will need to work near the Bull Ring on Chelsea Embankment. The duration of this work is three months and will be contained within the same westbound road closure as Cadent's work. By coordinating both programmes of work, Tideway will not need an additional three-month road closure.
