rotherhithe tunnel sign showing width and height restrictions

This is despite clear signs on all approaches highlighting the restrictions

Wide vehicles, generally vans or bigger vehicles, have been banned from the tunnel since 2012 as part of efforts to make roads safer.

Vans and wider vehicles using the tunnel risk a fine of £50 or prosecution for ignoring the restrictions and increasing the risk of collisions.

Alternative crossing points at Tower Bridge or the Blackwall Tunnel are both outside the Congestion Charging zone.

The safety of Londoners is our top priority.
