Fares

You can travel on Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and most National Rail services using contactless or Oyster to pay as you go, or you can add a Travelcard to your Oyster card. You can also buy paper tickets for single journeys, Day Travelcards or group travel.

The tables below show prices of caps and Travelcards for travel in zones 1 to 9. They do not include travel on Southeastern high speed or Gatwick Express services.

You can use pay as you go and buy Travelcards to some stations outside London. See the cost of caps and Travelcards for journeys including travel on National Rail services beyond Zone 9.

Adult

With contactless you can:

• Use pay as you go and benefit from daily and Monday to Sunday capping

With an Oyster card you can:

• Use pay as you go and benefit from daily capping
• Buy 7 Day, Monthly and longer period Travelcards

You do not need an Oyster card to pay cash single fares or to buy Day Travelcards.

Apprentice

You must have an Apprentice Oyster photocard to get 30% off 7 Day, Monthly and longer period Travelcards. You can save 34% on off-peak pay as you go fares and off-peak daily caps on Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and most National Rail services if you get a 16-25 National Railcard and add the discount entitlement to your Apprentice Oyster photocard.

18+ Student

You must have an 18+ Student Oyster photocard to get 30% off 7 Day, Monthly and longer period Travelcards. You can get a 34% discount on off-peak pay as you go fares and off-peak daily caps on Tube, DLR,  London Overground, TfL Rail and most National Rail services if you get a 16-25 National Railcard and add the discount entitlement to your 18+ Student Oyster photocard.

16+

You must have a 16+ Zip Oyster photocard to get:

• 7 Day, Monthly and longer period Travelcards at child rate
• Half the adult rate when you pay as you go on Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and most National Rail services

11-15

You must have an 11-15 Zip Oyster photocard to get:

• Child-rate fares on Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and most National Rail services
• 7 Day, Monthly and longer period Travelcards at child rate

5-10

Children aged between 5 and 10 can travel free on:

• Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and most National Rail services when using a 5-10 Zip Oyster photocard
• Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and the following National Rail services when accompanied by an adult (up to four children per adult):
  • Amersham to Marylebone (Chiltern)
  • Finsbury Park to King's Cross/Moorgate (First Capital Connect)
  • Stratford to Liverpool Street (Abellio Greater Anglia)
  • Upminster to Fenchurch Street/Liverpool Street via Barking (but not at Forest Gate/Maryland) (c2c)
  • Watford Junction to Euston (London Midland)
  • Watford Junction to Clapham Junction (Southern)
  • West Hampstead Thameslink to Moorgate/Elephant & Castle/London Bridge (First Capital Conenct)
  • West Ruislip to South Ruislip (Chiltern)

Jobcentre Plus

You need a Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card and an Oyster card with the Jobcentre Plus discount entitlement added to it, to qualify for half adult-rate pay as you go fares, daily caps and Travelcard season tickets.

Bus & Tram discount

No discounts are available on Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and National Rail services for holders of Bus & Tram Discount photocards. Adult fares apply.

National Railcards and Gold Cards

If you have a:

• Senior Railcard
• 16-25 Railcard
• Gold Card
• HM Forces Railcard

You need to add the Railcard or Gold card discount to your Oyster card to get:

• 1/3 discount on off-peak pay as you go fares on all rail services in London
• 1/3 discount on daily caps when travelling after 09:30 Mondays to Fridays, anytime on Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays
• Discounted off-peak Day Travelcards (also for Network Railcard and Family and Friends Railcard holders)

If you have a:

• Disabled Persons Railcard

You need to add the Railcard discount to your Oyster card to get:

• 1/3 discount on peak and off-peak pay as you go fares on all rail services in London
• 1/3 discount on peak and off-peak caps
• Discounted off-peak Day Travelcards

Railcard or Gold Card discounts can be added to your Oyster card, Apprentice Oyster photocard or 18+ Student Oyster photocard at Tube, London Overground and some National Rail stations. You can't add a Railcard or Gold Card discount to a contactless payment card.

National Railcard and Gold card holders do not get any discount on 7 day, monthly or longer period Travelcard season tickets.

Groups

For groups of 10 or more fare-paying passengers you can get Group Day Travelcards. These provide unlimited travel after 09:30 and any time on weekends and public holidays within the zones paid for on Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail most National Rail services. They can also be used on all London bus services and on trams. You can only get these as paper tickets, not on an Oyster card.

Group Day Travelcards are available from ticket machines at Tube stations or from London Overground or TfL Rail station ticket offices and some National Rail stations that Tube and London Overground services run through.

You can also buy Group Day Travelcards in advance from the Visitor Shop (zones 1-6 only).
