We answered

TfL Ref: 4581-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 19 February 2018 asking for copies of our London Underground and Docklands Light Railway working timetables for years 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2005.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.

Unfortunately, to provide the information you have requested would exceed the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by the Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with a request if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other information would exceed the appropriate limit. This is calculated at £25 per hour for every hour spent on the activities described.

We have estimated that it would significantly exceed the cost limit to provide a response to your current request. Whilst we can not be certain that copies of our London Underground and DLR Working Time Tables (WTTs) for the years you are requesting will be held, we expect that, if they are held, the information would be held in our archived records due to the time that has elapsed since their creation.

Locating and collating the relevant information from archived material would require us to recall several boxes from storage and manually review the paperwork for anything that may provide the information you require. It would be difficult to determine at what point we could satisfy ourselves that the information was not held once the process of reviewing the archived information is underway.

We do have reference copies of the LU WTTs held in leather bound volumes stored in one of our secure storage areas, but unfortunately it is not possible to take photocopies due to the leather binding.

If you are still interested in the WTTs, please find our online catalogue at the following link, which you can use to search for any material that may be of interest, as well as details about our collections: http://www.tflcorporatearchivescatalogue.co.uk/CalmViewA/Default.aspx?

If you have any queries or would like to discuss your request, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
