TfL Ref: FOI-3864-2425 – FOI-3874-2425
Thank you for your requests received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27th February 2025 asking for information about the performance of various bus routes.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Your cases are all detailed in turn below. While I can confirm that we hold the information you require, I am afraid it is not possible to source it all within the costs limit for responding to cases, as set out under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act. Under section 12, TfL is not required to provide information if it would cost more than £450 to determine if that information is held, and to then locate, retrieve or extract it from elsewhere. This is calculated at a rate of £25 per hour, equivalent to 18 hours work. Where one or more request for the same or similar information is received from the same applicant in any consecutive 60 working day period, then the requests can be aggregated for the purposes of calculating costs. That provision applies in this instance to your ten requests.
In this instance the exemption applies because of the large amount of information you have requested. Our buses team estimate that to answer just one of your requests would take in the region of two and half hours, meaning that to provide the requested information for all ten would take around 25 hours.
In order to bring your requests within the costs limit you may wish to reframe them to narrow their scope, focussing on the information that is of most importance to you. In doing so, please note that TfL proactively publishes bus performance data by route on our website here: https://tfl.gov.uk/forms/14144.aspx More general information about bus performance can be found here: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/buses-performance-data
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
