I would like the entry and exit counts throughout the day on a typical weekday / Saturday / Sunday in each year, broken down into 15 minute intervals for all tube stations for the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Part of my research requires modelling passenger count throughout the entire day, and I was wondering whether I could have the latest data on that, preferably from 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. Thank you for your further request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16 March 2020 asking for entry and exit counts throughout the day on a typical weekday / Saturday / Sunday broken down into 15 minute intervals for all tube stations for the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

The data for years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 is available on our Open Data pages available here: http://crowding.data.tfl.gov.uk/.  

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

Data for 2019 will be published at the same link in Summer 2020.

Therefore in accordance with the FOI Act, TfL is not obliged to supply you with the 2019 data you have requested as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act. In this instance the exemption has been applied as the information you have requested is intended for future publication.

This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information, in context and according to the pre-determined schedule, rather than in response to your request, to ensure the information is provided accurately and in an accessible manner.
