TfL Ref: FOI-3766-2425
Thank you for your request which we received on 19 February 2025, regarding prosecutions related to singing or playing music on TfL services.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
Our records show two instances of individuals singing or playing music without permission. In one case, a warning was issued, and in the other, no further action was taken. There have been no prosecutions for this type of offence during the specified period.
In most cases, when TfL enforcement officers encounter someone singing or playing music without permission, they will ask the individual to stop. Typically, customers comply. Further enforcement action is only considered if the individual refuses to comply. This may involve being asked to leave the service or station or being reported for possible prosecution. TfL only retains records where cases are referred for prosecution consideration.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
Eva Hextall
