Our ref: FOI-3572-1819/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 22 March 2019 asking for information about PCNs issued in Red Route boxes/bays on Clapham Road North.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

The red route is designed as a No Stopping network. To encourage drivers to observe the rules and regulations of the road, contributing to keeping traffic moving in London, we issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to enforce illegal parking and stopping on our network. Signs and road markings along the red routes tell a driver what they can and can't do. Information about the different types of bays on our road network is available in the Rules of Red Route pages on our website.

As explained on our website, bays are in place for a number of different purposes i.e. general parking, loading/unloading, for taxi use and for disabled persons’ use. If a red route bay is marked out by a white dotted line, it generally means that the bay can be used throughout the day for the purpose specified in the adjacent sign. However, there may be a maximum time limit - always check the signs. If a red route bay is marked out by a red dotted line, it indicates that the bay can only be used for part of the day. For example, some bays may only be available during the morning and early afternoon, some may be available only during the late afternoon and in the evening - again always check the signs.

The below table shows the amount of PCNs issued for parking bay contraventions on Clapham Road (northbound) for each of the full calendar years specified; the data reflects PCNs issued on Saturdays only. We do not hold data pre-2016 as we moved to a new enforcement processing system.

Please note, figures for 2019 are correct as of 31 March.
