Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require.  You asked for:

1. Number of vehicles registered as Hackney cabs

2. Number of Hackney cabs that are petrol

As of 1 January 2018 taxi vehicles presented for licensing for the first time in London must be zero emission capable. Further information is available on our website: www.tfl.gov.uk/info-for/taxis-and-private-hire/licensing/apply-for-a-taxi-vehicle-licence.

With regards to the information you have requested, the table below shows the Euro standards for licensed taxis and how many are zero emission capable (ZEC) or have been converted to use liquid petroleum gas (LPG) as of 1 January 2019. The Euro standard information for licensed taxis is based on the DVLA registration date we hold for each licensed vehicle. All taxis in the table have diesel engines unless otherwise stated.
