Our ref: FOI-3319-1819/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 6 March 2019 asking for information about London Underground train speeds.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

The average speed of London Underground trains can be worked out by looking at the timetables which can be found on the TfL website here:

https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/working-timetables

If you go to page 2 of any timetable, it lists the distance between every pair of stations, and the scheduled off-peak run time. Speed = distance divided by time.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
