Could I please have a copy of any reports or studies have TfL have which detail the relationship between Automated Train Operation on the Northern Line and its impacts on track wear and noise levels?

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-3265-2223

Thank you for your request which we received on 6 March 2023, asking for information about the relationship between automatic train operation (ATO) on the Northern Line and track wear and noise levels.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Unfortunately we don’t hold the information you require. We are not aware of any work done prior or post the introduction of the Transmission Based Train Control (TBTC) on the Northern Line.

However, please see the attached article which talks about the impacts of ATO on track and infrastructure. It’s also published in the PWI Journal available via this link; https://issuu.com/kerrieillsley/docs/pwi_journal_apr_2021/s/12196853

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
