FOI request detail

Bus journey time for Route 73 and air quality data for Tottenham Court Road scheme

Request ID: FOI-3184-1920
Date published: 29 January 2020

You asked

I presume TfL is committed to Open Data, and I know it will hold this data, and so could you please tell me the average No. 73 bus journey time from Oxford Circus to the British Library (a) in the 12 months before any of the road works to make the changes began and (b) in the months since Tottenham Court Road became two way? Also, do you have air quality monitors measuring the before and after air quality for this scheme? If so where are they and could you send me the results from the monitors for the periods as above?

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-3184-1920

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 30 December 2020 asking for information about buses and air quality.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our Information Access Policy. You asked:

I presume TfL is committed to Open Data, and I know it will hold this data, and so could you please tell me the average No. 73 bus journey time from Oxford Circus to the British Library (a) in the 12 months before any of the road works to make the changes began and (b) in the months since Tottenham Court Road became two way?

The data we hold doesn’t go down to the level of granularity requested. The bus data in the following link shows excess wait time and the actual percentage of the schedule met for the No.73 bus route: http://bus.data.tfl.gov.uk/boroughreports/routes/performance-route-73.pdf.

We don’t compare this against when roadworks began and finished, or when different road planning measures came into effect.

Also, do you have air quality monitors measuring the before and after air quality for this scheme?  If so where are they and could you send me the results from the monitors for the periods as above?

TfL doesn’t operate any air quality monitors. Generally air quality monitoring is undertaken by the London Borough, and data from their monitoring locations can be accessed via the following site: http://www.londonair.org.uk/london/asp/lahome.asp

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely,
